Carolina International ChoraleSummer 2008 marked CHCC’s first European choral tour. For touring, we took on the name Carolina International Chorale, or CIC. Filling a tour bus with our group of 51 passengers and an Italian tour guide, we set out from Rome’s airport to visit the ruins of Pompei and from there on to the Amalfi Coast. We spent several days in the seaside town of Maoiri, where we rehearsed Orff’s Carmina Burana with three very fine college choirs from California under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Talberg. Our first concert was on day 2, in a church atop a hill in Maiori. Four choirs each performed pieces from their own concert repertoire and then all joined together for a rousing rendition of “O Fortuna.” CIC sang selections from our “Soulful Sounds” program and a composition by a local composer named Giuseppe Di Bianco. In all, we gave two full performances of Carmina Burana, one accompanied by Russian orchestra overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the second in a beautiful cloister in Rome accompanied by two pianos and four percussionists. Our choir sang the “Soulful Sounds” concert at several locations and we sang at a mass. Our spirituals and gospel music were very popular with the local audiences. In the fall of 2008, Mr. Di Bianco, came to North Carolina for our December concerts of Italian Christmas music. We performed three pieces that he arranged specifically for CHCC and as a result of this collaboration we formed a new friendship with a group in Raleigh called the Triangle Sons of Italy. The Carolina International Chorale directed by Dr. Sue Klausmeyer concludes its 2008 Italy Performance Tour with Incantato on July 2 with a highlight concert in Frascati. The choir from Chapel Hill, North Carolina will present Ray Roger's "Gospel Mass" with piano, bass and drums along with other gospels and spirituals. The performance starts at 8 pm at the Scuderie Aldobrandini
Summer 2010 promises to be another exciting adventure as CIC heads to Central Europe with target cities on Vienna, Budapest, and Prague on the itinerary. CIC 's travel arrangements are handled by: |

Thank You!
The Chapel Hill Community Choruswould like to thank its many donors and friends who help make our performances possible. Without your continuing support we would be unable to consistently provide high-quality musical programs for the benefit of the community. We are especially grateful to Strowd Roses, Inc. for its very generous gift. No less important for the life of the chorus has been the long-term and on-going dedication of the friends and members of the chorus itself, who have given so enthusiatically of their time, energy, dedication, and, of course, their voices. Thank you all very much!
